Ataraxie is an Internet infrastructure and hosting provider based in the South of France.
Originally a Geographic Information Systems specialist – and still a major player in GIS hosting in France today – Ataraxie now provides server management, ADSL, SDSL, Fiber connectivity, dedicated servers, VoIP and Exchange hosting, and VPS hosting powered by Virtuozzo.
“Typically we customize and personalize all solutions for our customers,” says Datacenter Manager, Jules Dorison. “That is true for VPS hosting, too – we help our clients deploy and configure their servers, install tools and so on. Using Virtuozzo Server makes that easy.”
Jules manages more than 400 customer environments with a small team. Virtuozzo automation plays an important role in making that possible.
“I have worked with many different virtualization platforms, including VMware. Virtuozzo gives us a central administrator interface and a very nice user interface – it is much easier to use, not to mention a lot less expensive, than other VPS platforms,” he says.
“We can deploy servers in PXE mode, which is very practical, and we can also manage containers and VMs in exactly the same way. With Virtuozzo we can handle a large number of customers with the time of two, perhaps two and half people – it is very efficient.”

Efficient virtualization and scalable storage
According to Jules, Virtuozzo containers are generally recommended for new customers: they’re more flexible, as well as making more efficient use of Ataraxie’s infrastructure. Virtuozzo storage is impressive, too.

The fact that we can easily add nodes to storage clusters, installing a new server in 3 minutes. Detecting incidents on storage devices is easy and reassuring too.

Quick and effective support
Support is another stand-out feature of the Virtuozzo relationship for Ataraxie.
“If we have an issue Virtuozzo gives us access to the specialist support we need, right away, and they look deeply to identify and fix it,” says Jules. “A few days ago Virtuozzo spent a couple of hours debugging a third party product running on a VPS, where another vendor wouldn’t have even considered looking into it. Virtuozzo support is quick and effective.”
