Pricing FAQ
Understanding how the platform charges for resources is essential for managing your cloud costs effectively. This guide provides answers to the most common questions about resource consumption, billing, and cost optimization. Whether you’re new to the platform or looking to optimize your spending, you’ll find practical information and actionable tips below.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of resources are charged?
The platform charges for three types of resources:
Primary charges - fees for main platform resources (RAM & CPU), measured in cloudlets
Provider-dependent charges - optional features that may be charged based on your hosting provider’s settings
Optional extras - charges for additional platform features and services
For detailed information on each charge type, see the Charged Resources document.
How is resource consumption calculated and billed?
Resource consumption for each environment is calculated and charged on an hourly basis. The platform measures actual resource usage and bills you accordingly. You only pay for the resources you consume—if you stop an environment, you only pay for disk space and reserved resources (such as public IPs or SSL certificates).
Where can I see my current resource consumption?
You can monitor resource consumption in several places within your dashboard:
Environment Wizard - shows approximate monthly spending based on reserved cloudlets
Usage column - displays current consumption (disk space in MB and current/reserved cloudlets) for each environment
Statistics section - provides detailed breakdown of all resource types (RAM, CPU, Storage, Bandwidth) per node
Billing History - shows all charged resources for a specified period and their costs
Navigate to Balance > Quotas & Pricing in your dashboard
Review the tabs for each resource type available in the platform
Check the pricing scale and any discounts offered by your hosting provider
Exact pricing depends on your hosting provider. Visit their Pricing page for detailed rates. Note that software stacks are provided free—you only pay for consumed resources, not the software itself.
What discounts are available?
The platform offers automatic discounts based on your resource consumption. The more resources you consume, the better your discount rate. For complete information on the discount system and how it’s applied to your account, see the Automatic Discounts and Pricing System documents.
Are software stacks and application servers charged separately?
No. All software stacks (Java, PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, .NET) and pre-configured application servers are provided at no additional cost. You only pay for the computing resources (RAM and CPU) they consume, not for the software itself.
Some proprietary software solutions offered by your hosting provider (like LiteSpeed) may include additional license fees. Check your hosting provider’s Pricing page for details on any such charges.
How can I reduce my resource consumption and costs?
Here are effective ways to optimize your spending:
Stop idle environments - if you have dev/test environments you don’t use regularly, stop them to avoid charges for RAM, CPU, and traffic (disk space charges continue)
Optimize application performance - reduce resource usage through code optimization and efficient database queries
Use appropriate scaling - configure vertical or horizontal scaling to match actual demand
Monitor usage regularly - check your Billing History to identify consumption patterns
Consider environment lifecycle management - align environment states with your development cycles
What happens to charges when I stop an environment?
When you stop an environment, you stop being charged for:
RAM (Memory)
CPU
Traffic/Bandwidth
However, you continue to pay for:
Disk space - storage occupied by your application files and data
Public IP addresses - if you have reserved any
SSL certificates - if you have purchased any
Can I get a cost estimate before creating an environment?
Yes. When creating an environment through the environment wizard, the pricing widget on the right panel shows an approximate monthly cost based on the number of cloudlets you reserve. This estimate helps you plan your spending before committing resources.
How often can I adjust my resource reservations?
You can adjust your resource reservations at any time. Changes to reserved resources take effect immediately. Billing is calculated based on the actual resources consumed on an hourly basis, so adjusting your reservations allows you to control costs dynamically.
Is there a minimum charge or setup fee?
The platform uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model with no setup fees or minimum charges. You only pay for the resources you consume, measured hourly. There are no hidden fees beyond the resource charges.
How do I understand my billing history?
Your Billing History section provides a complete record of all charged resources during a selected period and their associated costs. You can use this to track your spending patterns, identify peak usage times, and optimize your resource allocation accordingly. You can download detailed CSV reports for further analysis or integration with your accounting systems.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payment methods vary by hosting provider. Check your provider’s billing documentation or contact their support team for accepted payment methods, billing cycles, and payment schedules. Most providers support major credit cards and may offer additional payment options.
