Built-In SSL by Default

Starting with the current 8.13 platform release, all the new environments will be provided with a built-in SSL certificate by default. The option will be automatically enabled in the topology wizard during the environment creation but can be manually disabled if needed. Such an adjustment ensures that environments are immediately displayed when accessed from the dashboard (e.g., via the Open in Browser button) without the need to change the opened website protocol manually.

SLB WebSocket Support

In order to better support applications that use WebSocket connections, the Shared Load Balancer (SLB) was adjusted to support WebSocket on the ports that accept SSL (HTTPS) traffic. The changes were made for the listeners on the 4848, 8443, 4901-4910 ports. The SLB now accepts WebSocket connections on these ports and forwards them to the appropriate backend servers. This adjustment allows users to use WebSocket-based applications with the built-in SSL (i.e., over SLB), without the need to attach a public IP address to the environment.

SSH Gate Default Key Type

Virtuozzo Application Management provides secure and reliable access to the environment nodes via SSH using the dedicated SSH Gate infrastructure component. Starting with the current 8.13 release, the default key type for SSH Gate was changed to a modern Ed25519 algorithm. This SSH server key is used to identify the server and establish a secure, encrypted connection. Namely, the client uses the server’s public key when connecting to verify the server’s identity and securely exchange a session key. The process ensures the client connects to the correct server and not an imposter — helping prevent man-in-the-middle attacks.

Software Stack Versions

The software stack provisioning process is independent of the platform release, which allows new software solutions to be delivered as soon as they are ready. However, due to the necessity to adapt and test new stack versions, there is a small delay between software release by its respective upstream maintainer and integration into Virtuozzo Application Management.

The most accurate and up-to-date list of the certified software stack versions can be found on the dedicated documentation page.
