Spare components

Cloud service providers must have the following spare components onsite:

  • 1 PSU per 20 servers
  • 1 network card (of all types) per 20 servers
  • 1 SFP module per 10 servers, but at least 2 are required
  • 1 memory module per 10 servers, but at least 2 are required
  • 1 NVMe drive (of all types) per 10 servers, but at least 2 are required

Firmware requirements

The latest firmware must be installed on all devices. Cloud service providers are responsible for updating server firmware.

Server guidelines

Virtuozzo accepts hardware specifications based on the guidelines listed below.

Important: Virtuozzo Infrastructure works on the same hardware that is recommended for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Please ensure that the hardware you are using or going to use is supported by RHEL9.

Common

  • Compute, controller, fast storage, and slow storage server hardware must be RHEL9 certified
  • Gateway servers must support pfSense software
  • Controller, compute, and compute+storage servers must have uniform hardware: the same CPU vendor and generation and the same network cards
  • No blade or enclosure systems with shared network and storage devices
  • No external storage systems
  • UEFI support

Network environment

  • Do not use consumer-grade network switches

  • VLAN support

  • LACP support

  • RDMA (RoCEv2) compatibility for private networks

  • MTU 9000 bytes (jumbo frames) support for private networks and public networks

  • Recommended network switches:

    • 2 x Juniper EX4650 for storage and compute traffic
    • 2 x Juniper EX2300 for IPMI traffic
  • Non-blocking Ethernet switches

  • To avoid intrusions, Virtuozzo Infrastructure should be on a dedicated internal network inaccessible from outside

Datacenter requirements

  • The rack power supply should be highly available and meet the server demands. The datacenter team must have a power management document with the power delivery capacity usage specifications.
  • Redundant Internet channels: 1 Gbit main, no lower than 1 Gbit backup.
  • No virtual networking and no virtual racks.

The mentioned network equipment is given for reference. Your actual network equipment may differ, but must meet the network requirements in the Administrator Guide.
