Prometheus Monitoring Overview
Virtuozzo Application Management provides out-of-box support for the Prometheus open-source monitoring system. The corresponding monitoring infrastructure component is based on the Prometheus, Alertmanager, and Grafana tools. Additionally, on the monitored hosts it requires Prometheus exporters to collect data.
Note: Prometheus is a recommended monitoring solution for new Virtuozzo Application Managements and can be integrated for the existing platforms. However, Zabbix monitoring is fully supported and can still be used alongside or instead of Prometheus.
The integration of the Prometheus monitoring provides the following benefits to the platform:
- implements visualization of the graphs (by means of Grafana)
- utilizes more up-to-date list of monitoring triggers (reviewed all existing triggers and their severity - improved some existing checks, removed outdated ones, and fixed false positive alerts)
- supports alert notification templates (email, Slack)
- ensures the checks’ compatibility with the VZ7 virtualization
- introduces ability to set up duration for storing metrics
